June 18 - Last Day of Vacation

After checking out more of the hotel's amenities (toddler playground,
game room, putting green, sandbox area, teen hangout), we went
back across the street to Crystal Cove. This area has about 35
cottages that people lived in until the State "kicked" them out a few
years ago. Supposedly, it had become a kind of "hippy" community.
This section of the cove was absolutely beautiful with this rocky cliff
area. Several movies were filmed here. One being "Beaches" ... the
cottage used in that film is right next to this rocky cliff. The State
has refurbished about 12 of the cottages. Six are rentals (which are
very hard to book), one is a restaurant and we saw at least one shop.
I would have loved to have been one of the owners years ago ... you
would have had your own private beach. Aaaahhhh!

The girls had fun playing in the waves again ... and eventually
they ended up very wet ... which, at this point in the trip (meaning
overly tired), created quite an emotional stir.

We spent the afternoon at the Discovery Science Center.
Not only did they do the rock climbing wall, but they also
laid on a bed of nails. (Unfortunately, my batteries died so I
didn't get a picture). Then it was time to drive home. It was
a fun vacation!
